Grist Mill Auctions and Appraisals or Stapleton Auctions and Appraisals is a family run business.

Frank and Betty both grew up in Newtonville and were married in 1970. In June 1971 Frank started to auction at the old Grist Mill for his father Hugh Stapleton, brother Bob joined him in September of 1971. They both went to World Wide College of Auctioneering in the spring of 1972, forming Stapleton Bros. until 1979 when Bob's share was bought out. Frank is a graduate of the CIA an  American course for auctioneers, and the ICCA a Canadian course. Betty graduated from the ICCA in 1996. Frank became a member of the National Auctioneers Association in 1972, the Canadian Auctioneers Association in 1984, founding President of the Auctioneers Association of Ontario in 1985. In 1985 he won the Canadian Auctioneer and the all world auctioneer competition.

1986 until 1991 he served on local politics as local councilor in his community -the Town of Newcastle, now the town of Clarington.

Steve graduated from auction school when he was 12 but joined the family business in 1995. In 1996 he took one year of the ICCA and graduated from Appraisal school in 1980. Steve is responsible for picking up the goods, setting up auctions and auctioning. He is the father of Max Stapleton (Max just turned 3) 7th generation of Stapletons in Newtonville.

Tricia is the oldest and is married to Orlando Hyatt, she has two sons Damane and Trey. (Damane is 8 and Trey is 4) Tricia is in charge of the office on auction days, doing all the clerking and cashiering.

Tara  mother of Clayton McDonald (Clay was 11 beginning of Jan.)  runs the canteen on auction day.
