Located right
behind the Auction Centre the Grist Mill Auction house
is more of a museum normally used when two auctions are
going on at the same time. |
|
The entrance is
located on the south side of the building and has been
redone to match the exterior of the building. |
 |
 |
The old Grist
Mill has been in the family name since 1940, where the
late H.W. Stapleton milled grain and sold commercial
feeds and seeds until 1970. |
| The
power source for the mill was a 1930 Ruston Hornsby Diesel
driven single horizontal cylinder with a 6 foot fly
wheel currently on display with numerous other
artifacts. The Heritage building serves as a great
auction hall with a wonderful character of its own. |
|
The main area of
the mill features the old church pew seats (from Port
Hope United Church) and an
elevated stage area. Auction items can be easily
seen from the lower tiered seating area. |
